Applications are now being accepted for the position of Full-Time Utility Person at the Terrace Bay Public Works Department.

RATE OF PAY: $32.17 – $35.71 per hour

Duties include:

  • Operating Mobile and Auxiliary Equipment
  • Performing General, Manual Labour
  • Maintain, Repair, Install and Service Municipal Utilities and Works.

Minimum Qualifications: Grade 12 education or equivalent and a valid Class “DZ” Drivers Licence. One to three years experience in heavy equipment operation.

**Candidates without a “DZ” drivers license holding all other qualifications may be considered.**

LABOUR ACTION CENTRE PEER HELPER (TEMPORARY CASUAL)

Through a partnership with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skill Development, the Township is hiring one (1) Temporary-casual Peer Helper for the Terrace Bay Action Centre to assist in supporting community members who are facing loss of employment due to the idling of the Terrace Bay Pulp Mill.

The Peer Helper will report to the Terrace Bay Action Centre Coordinators. Their duties will include but are not limited to:

- Providing information about local resources and organizations for displaced workers including making referrals to community agencies
- Analyzing results from needs assessment surveys to help understand the needs of displaced workers
- Providing support for workshops or courses such as set up/take down and providing assistance to course instructors if required
- Supervising the use of the Action Centre guest computer such as helping with logging on/off of online course, providing job search assistance, etc.
- Reviewing resumes and providing advice or referrals for suggested updates
- Act as a support for displaced workers, maintaining contact with former co-workers and providing encouragement and a listening ear

Wage: $20/hr, 12hrs/week – casual with flexible schedule for the duration of the Action Centre (Non-unionized)
