North Shore Municipalities Sign Agreement for Natural Gas Services in the Rural North

Lakeshore Natural Gas, a wholly owned local distribution company of the five Municipalities of MarathonTerrace BaySchreiberManitouwadge and Wawa, announced today that it has signed a Letter of Intent for a long-term Gas Supply Agreement (GSA) with Certarus Ltd. The agreement contracts Certarus for the transportation, storage and supply of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for the proposed North Shore Gas project.  Read full news release

Due to the Ontario COVID-19 Restrictions, all Council Meetings will be held through ZOOM Video Conferencing until further notice.
There will be 2 meetings held on Monday, April 19, 2021:
PUBLIC MEETING at 6:30pm - to consider a proposed Plan of Subdivision, Official Plan Amendment, and Zoning By-law Amendment under Section 22, 34 and 51 of the Planning Act, R.S.O., 1990, as amended.
Terrace Bay COUNCIL MEETING at 7:00pm. The public is invited to attend this meeting virtually through ZOOM video conferencing.

Resident Notice – Update Water Outage/Boil Water Advisory

UPDATE Thursday, April 15 at 1:30pm - Water Outage/Boil Water Advisory for affected Residents of Lakeview Drive (House numbers Odd 7-23, Even 12-28)
The necessary repairs have been completed and water service restored.
In consultation with the TBDHU & ON Clean Water Agency, it has been determined that repairs were made in such a way that drinking water quality was not compromised.
Therefore, under the direction of the TBDHU & OCWA the drinking water remains SAFE to drink and there will be NO requirement for a boil water advisory.
Please contact the Municipal Office for further information if required.

Save our Superior North EMS/Ambulance Services – Alternative Covid Style Protest

The Township of Terrace Bay is asking residents to create signs and place them on their lawns to advocate for the need to keep Superior North EMS/Ambulance Services in Terrace Bay and the surrounding communities along the North Shore.

On Saturday, April 17th from 2:30pm to 4:30pm, Kim Krause from the Schreiber Media Centre has offered to videotape this event by going around our community to residences advocating the need for this important service to stay in our community. Residents Notice – Hays Lake Dam Outflow Increase

Please be advised that due to the recent weather and melt of snowpack we are experiencing higher than normal inflows to Hays Lake. In order to keep the elevation under control we are initiating a log operation today to increase flow from the current 0m3/s to approximately 140m3/s. This flow will be for a period of time until after the rain and the flows return to normal, most likely through the weekend. Stay Safe, Stay Clear!

Township of Terrace Bay Facility Closures due to Provincial Stay at Home Order

Effective Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 12:01 a.m., a stay-at-home order is being issued for 28 days – requiring everyone to remain at home, with exceptions for essential purposes, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services, getting outdoor exercise or for essential work.
