Terrace Bay’s ON ICE – Ice Fishing Challenge

Calling all Fishing Enthusiasts! Terrace Bay's ON ICE - Ice Fishing Challenge! Starts February 1 to February 28, 2022
The 2022 Ontario Ice Fishing Challenge Fishing Tournament is an online tournament run through Angler’s Atlas website and their mobile app MyCatch.
Anyone can participate in the 2022 Ontario Ice Fishing Challenge and it is for all ages. Registration is currently only able to support individual registration. For those participants sharing a mobile device, participants must login to their own account to submit their catches.
There is a $20.00 registration fee to enter the tournament.
Catches must be submitted through the MyCatch app for judging anytime during that period. All species are eligible.
All entries will be eligible for $13,600 in Prizes & Draws, including Local Town Sponsorship Prizes. For more information visit the Angler's Atlas Website

Council Meeting – January 4, 2022

The next Council Meeting will be Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at 6:30pm in the Terrace Bay Community Centre - Activity Room. The public is invited to attend these meetings in person (proof of vaccination required) or online through Zoom. Just click on the Zoom Links below to attend the virtual meeting:
Reminder: All persons entering the Terrace Bay Community Centre are required to provide PROOF OF VACCINATION at the TB Community Centre Office, self screen, wear a mask & hand sanitize before entering the building.

Township of Terrace Bay Facility Temporary Closures Effective January 5, 2022

In response to recent trends that show a rapid increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations, Ontario is temporarily moving into Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen with modifications that take into account the province’s successful vaccination efforts.

As of Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 12:01 am the following Township of Terrace Bay Facilities will be CLOSED temporarily as per the Provincial COVID 19 Restrictions:

Terrace Bay Community Centre Recreational Facilities – Fitness Room, Bowling Alley, Squash/Racquetball Courts, Curling Club, Arena & Meeting Rooms and fitness classes are CLOSED. (Fitness Room Members will have their memberships extended for the period of the closure)

Terrace Bay Cultural Centre – Seniors Centre and Michael King Hall are CLOSED.

These measures will remain in place for at least 21 days, subject to trends in public health & health system indicators.
Help stop the spread of COVID-19 by following all public health measures & getting your booster as soon as you can.

In line with Provincial Regulations, only essential Township services continue to operate during the temporary closures.

The Terrace Bay Municipal Office will remain OPEN from 10am to 9:30pm – Monday to Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm 

Please only come into the Municipal Office if it is essential –  for purchasing of garbage tags, landfill cards, dog tags and paying bills.  Did you know that utility and tax bills can be paid online through your financial institution. Credit card payments can be taken over the phone if necessary.

If you are applying for a building permit, planning application or document signed by commissioner of oath, please call the Municipal Office at 807-825-3315 ext.229

Visitors to the building are reminded that it is mandatory to wear a mask and hand sanitize when entering the building.

Terrace Bay Public Library – will remain OPEN to the public on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday - 10am to 5pm and 6pm to 8pm,  Thursday/Friday - 10am to 5pm and Saturdays - 12:30pm to 4:30pm

Terrace Bay Arena Opens for the Season on December 15.21

We are pleased to announce the opening date for the Terrace Bay Memorial Arena will be on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Arena Schedule
The issues surrounding our ice plant have been resolved, and we are pleased to be opening the arena for regular use in the coming days. Our refrigeration plant has been inspected by regulated refrigeration mechanics representing Cimco Refrigeration as well as Ontario Recreation Facility Association Ice Maintenance and Equipment Operations qualified staff. These professionals do not project further hinderances to our ice plant operations and it remains The Township of Terrace Bay’s intent is to host safe, impactful, fun programming for the remainder of the 2021-2022 skating season. Thank you for your patience in waiting for this opening date!

Terrace Bay Arena Guidelines 2021.22 (subject to change)

  • All participants will be required to complete a self-screening check  and provide Proof of Vaccination for all users 12 years and older before entering the facility. These procedures will be posted at the entrance to the building.
  • All participants and attendees must practice physical distancing
  • Arena Ice Users will NOT be required to wear masks on the arena ice surface, due to the TBDHU mask guidelines for indoor public spaces for the Thunder Bay District. f. permit the temporary removal of a mask or face covering where necessary for the purposes of: i. actively engaging in an athletic or fitness activity including waterbased activities.
  • Wearing of face masks is mandatory indoors, with the exception of users on arena ice surface. Face masks to be provided by user groups and/or participants

Free Sand for Terrace Bay Residents

In an effort to help reduce the risk of slips and falls this season, the Township of Terrace Bay has set out a designated pile of sand for residents to take - FREE!  We ask that any resident helping themselves to the pile of sand only come grab about a bucket at a time. This way, your neighbours have an opportunity to scoop some up too!  Located in the Tourist Information Parking Lot

RESIDENTS NOTICE – Township Wide Water Outage/Boil Water Advisory in Effect

A Township Wide Water Outage/Boil Water Advisory is in Effect as of  Thursday, December 2, 2021 - Noon
Due to a loss of pressure in the water distribution system:
A Boil Water Advisory will be in effect until further notice. Please note that all water used for human consumption must be brought to a rolling boil for one (1) minute.
The Municipality will carry out required testing of water in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health of the TBDHU.
Information regarding what to do during a "Boil Water Advisory" is available at the Municipal Office (825-3315) or the TBDHU at 807-625-5900
